The National Meteorological Training School (NMTS) is a government funded institution founded in 1989 under the Department of Meteorology in the then Ministry of Natural Resources. It started as a training institution for low and medium level meteorologists (WMO class III and class IV) and later adding the WMO class II meteorological technician following the breakup of the East African Community.
The school falls under the Directorate of Training and Research of the Uganda National Meteorological Authority. It is the only specialized Meteorological institution in Uganda, training both local and international students at the level of Diploma in Meteorology and the newly introduced Agro meteorology.
