On behalf of our staff and current students, I welcome you to the online platform for National Meteorological Training School (NMTS).
NMTS is the only institution of higher learning in Uganda that offers training at diploma level in atmospheric sciences. Currently, the courses offered at NMTS are Diploma in Meteorology and Climate Sciences (DMCS), and Diploma in Agricultural meteorology. The school also offers Certificate in Meteorology, and several short courses. We also have customized training for highly specialized sectors such as aviation. These courses are aligned to the requirements of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), and the World Meteorological Organization and hydrology.
As a way of addressing the strategic need for well-blended higher education amidst technological advancements, we reviewed our curricula to enable us deliver on quality education that is student-centered. Our new curricula were crafted to produce learners who can not only be employed in several sectors but also create their own jobs as soon as they complete the training. Our new curriculum aims at supporting the transformation of our society through human resources development.
We made an effort to populate our website with adequate information. You are welcome to explore the short courses we offer. More importantly, all our school activities, research work and plans are available on this website for exploration and feedback from you, our stakeholder.
NMTS appreciates the continued support of the Government of Uganda through Uganda National Meteorological Authority (defunct), internal and external partners and stakeholders for enabling us to deliver quality and relevant higher education in atmospheric sciences. Considering that agriculture is the backbone of Uganda’s economy, our agrometeorological training course aims at supporting sustainable agriculture productivity.
